A 1,711-Pound Gift for Our Polar Bears
Jeff Warner, a farmer from Englehart, grew something special this fall—a pumpkin that weighed in at 1,711 pounds. It's a real beauty, but it didn't make the cut for the competition it was entered in.
Good news? That massive pumpkin is getting a second life. It's being donated to the Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat, where it will become a treat for two of the habitat's most famous residents: Ganuk and Henry, our beloved polar bears.
It's the kind of story that makes you smile—a giant pumpkin that didn't win a ribbon found its perfect purpose right here at home, bringing a little joy (and a lot of produce) to the bears we all love to visit.
Fall harvest season reminds us that sometimes the best ideas come from making the most of what we grow.
